BJP bribing JVM leaders in desperation to come back in power: Marandi

Jamshedpur: In view of recent departure of party legislators and other members from the organization, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) president Babulal Marandi today said that no decision had yet been taken on alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

While trying to play down the recent exit of several party MLAs and their joining the BJP.

Marandi said it was a non-event for him and the party. He said any decision on striking a pre-poll alliance would be taken at an appropriate time. He said that the party was all set to contest the polls at all seats, though the final decision in this regard was yet to be taken. Though we had joined hands with the Congress in last Assembly polls, presently we are not decided on our pre poll alliance plans, he said.

Asked as to what would be the partys strategy in the elections, Marandi said, “It is pre-mature to speak about our strategy at this stage. Moreover, I am not disappointed over the decision of some of party legislators quitting the party and switching to BJP. However I am surprised to see the moral collapse of the BJP which is desperate to grab JVM leaders just to regain power in the state.

The former CM was in the city to take part in a function organized to mark the World Indigenous Day at Gopal Maidan. JVM leaders Bokaro MLA Samresh Singh, Simarias Jai Prakash Singh Bhokta, Jamuas Chandrika Mahtha and Giridihs Nirbhaya Kumar Shatabdi have left the party last month and several are expected to follow suit.

Answering queries from the media, Marandi alleged that BJP was adopting unethical means to grab JVM leaders by offering them money.

He also alleged that the politicians of several national as well as regional parties sitting in New Delhi were robbing the people of the state of their hard earned money.

He further went on to add that the government so far has failed to take any steps to curb corruption or bring welfare projects on track.

We do not expect much from the government. Moreover the people have seen the tenure of Arjun Munda. Even then he failed to work for the development of the state, he said.
