Jamshedpur : BJP activists led by East Singhbhum district party president Raj Kumar Srivastava on Wednesday gheraoed principal of Golmuri-based R D Tata Technical Training Education Centre ( NTTF) for several hours in protest for not allowing a student to appear for semester examination due to low attendance.

It may be mentioned that the first year (2013-16 session) diploma electronic stream student Rajwinder Kaur was denied to appear in her final exam. He father Shravan Singh, a Tata Steel employee had approached BJP leader Amarpreet Singh Kale since she was being debarred from appearing in examination for not having 90 percent attendance.

Father of the student, Shravan Singh, a resident of Sidhgora said that her daughter attendance was below 90 percent as she was admitted for dehydration suffering recently while taking part in physical exercises.

My daughter attendance was around 75 percent while the institute principal K V Nair was not allowing her to sit in the first years second semester exam which began from Tuesday last at the institute stating that as per institute rule 90 percent attendance was mandatory for sitting in semester exam. He was not willing to consider the medical reports which forced me to approach BJP leaders, said Shravan Singh.

It was only after the arrival of Dhalbhum SDO Prem Ranjan which led to a tripartite talk between BJP leaders and parents of the student and institutes management along with SDO at the principal chamber that led to a solution with the principal finally agreeing to allow the student to take part in the exam.

The student would be allowed to take tests of the missed papers in supplementary examinations. However, she will have to provide medical reports of her absence to allow her for exams, said principal K. V Nair.
