JVM activists stage demonstration at JVVNL office

Jamshedpur: The activists of district unit of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha on Wednesday staged demonstration at Jharkhand Vidyut Vikas Nigam Limited (JVVNL) to protest against the power board failure to improve supply in its command areas both at urban and rural belts. Several party activists took part in the agitation in front of Bistupur office.

JVM central secretary Abhay Singh who led the agitation at the office said, “We have no choice but to undertake such an agitation as people in both the rural and urban areas are fed up with irregular power supply. Moreover, there is rampant corruption in the power board which leads to sufferings of the consumers.”

We are carrying out the agitation in a democratic manner. Such an agitation has become a necessity as the people both in rural and urban areas are fed up with intermittent power cuts and prolonged load sheddings. The assurances made by JVVNL officials for improving power scenario fail to work. We are compelled to go for a mass agitation,” said another party leader.

The party activists who started the agitation at around 10 am decided to withdraw following an assurance from the JSEB authorities who sought 15-days time for resolving the issues.

The local power board officials also informed the matter to its Ranchi headquarters. The situation in places like Govindpur, Jugsalai, Karandih and Mango become worse during the peak summer season as the residents fail to get even 5-6 hours of electricity supply. Citing examples of poor power supply in JSEB command areas, a senior JVM leader said that through the agitation they also gave a message to the chief minister, who claims to improve the power scenario.
