Jamshedpur, Nov 15: The BJM ST Morcha led by its district president Prakash Koya, celebrated the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The chief guest on the occasion was Jamshedpur East constituency MLA Saryu Roy who garlanded a statue of the fiery revolutionary at Birsanagar Sunday Market. While paying homage to Birsa Munda, Saryu Roy observed, “Birsa Munda remains a youth icon even today. The revolution that he raised against the oppression of the British rulers shook the English bastion. His valor and determination are beyond comparison. The British were terrified of him and had him arrested in 1900 and he died in captivity a short while later. It was he who raised his voice against the authoritarian and despotic British regime and paved the way for the fight for independence. Jharkhand was established as a separate state and the day coincided with Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary and that is a huge tribute to the immortal and iconic revolutionary.”
The Jamshedpur East MLA said that Birsanagar was established in the revolutionary’s name and that in the very near future, the process of facelift of the colony would be launched with improved public facilities. He said that houses would be allotted numbers. Those present on the occasion included Subodh Srivastav, Ajay Sinha, Kulwinder Singh Pannu, Manoj Singh Ujjain, Vikas Gupta, Dharmendra Prasad, Amit Sharma, Rajesh Prasad, Pankaj Srivastav and others.
