Bird Flu alert in Ranchi: Samples sent to Bhopal for testing

Jamshedpur, May 22: With the resurgence of bird flu in Ranchi, a state-wide advisory has been issued, prompting the formation of a veterinary team in East Singhbhum district. The Rapid Response Team (RRT), comprising veterinarians and animal experts, has been reactivated to tackle the situation.

The team includes Dr. Ashutosh Manjhi from Bhuiyandih Veterinary Officer, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Rai from Sonari Veterinary Officer, Dr. Pappu Kumar from Jamshedpur Assistant Model Village Officer, Veterinary Surgeon Vivekanand Raut, Dr. Anand Kumar Anandmay from Kadma Veterinary Officer, and District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Surendra Jha.

As a precautionary measure, approximately 972 samples have been collected from poultry farming centers across the district. These samples have been sent to Bhopal for testing, and authorities are awaiting the reports. So far, no cases of bird flu have been reported in the region.

Dr. Surendra Jha emphasized the importance of vigilance and immediate action to prevent the spread of avian influenza. Samples are being collected from poultry farms, and any suspicious cases will be promptly addressed. Residents are urged to report any unusual deaths of chickens or hens for immediate investigation and necessary measures.
