Bicycles for distribution left at the mercy of weather elements in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, July 29: The efficiency of officers in implementing government schemes can be observed by the sight of bicycles kept under the open sky at Jamshedpur block headquarters. Over one thousand bicycles are exposed to the elements, getting soaked in the continuous rain. In June, more than 3100 bicycles were sent to Jamshedpur block for distribution among students. The parts of these bicycles were left under the open sky at the block headquarters by the agency responsible. These parts have been subjected to both sun and rain.

After this issue was reported, a large-scale program was organized on July 12, during which bicycles were distributed among 600 students from 16 schools across four assembly constituencies (Jamshedpur East, West, Jugsalai, and Potka). On July 23, more bicycles were distributed to students from other schools. Despite this, over 1000 bicycles remained assembled and stored under the open sky, without any tarpaulin cover or proper storage in a room or verandah.

Sudha Verma, the Block Development Officer of Jamshedpur block, stated that Jamshedpur had received the highest number of bicycles in the district. So far, more than 1000 bicycles had been distributed, with an equal number ready for distribution soon in urban area schools. She expressed hope that all bicycles would be distributed by the end of this month.
