Mumbai: India lost one of its most iconic voices on Sunday as legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92. Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar announced her passing outside Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been admitted on Saturday.
The family will conduct her last rites at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4:00 PM.
Final Days
The singer entered the hospital on Saturday following complications from extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. Her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, had earlier shared a health update on Instagram, requesting privacy as the family hoped for a recovery that ultimately was not to be.
A Musical Legacy Without Parallel
Asha Bhosle’s career spanned eight decades, leaving an indelible mark on global music:
