Gamharia, June 3: Governor of Jharkhand, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as the world’s fourth largest economy and is steadily progressing towards becoming the third largest. He made this statement while addressing the third convocation ceremony of Arka Jain University in Gamharia, where he was the chief guest.
In his speech, Governor Gangwar stressed the need for significant improvements in the higher education sector in Jharkhand. “There is a shortage of faculty in universities, which we are working to resolve. A robust education system will be established in the state,” he asserted. Upon his arrival, the Governor was given a Guard of Honour.
Encouraging the students, he said, “You must now prepare to step into the world of work and contribute as responsible citizens. Your role in innovation can take the nation forward.” Praising the Tata Group, he said, “The city of Jamshedpur stands as a symbol of the Tata family’s ideals. Students should take inspiration from this legacy.”
Congratulating the graduates, the Governor remarked, “Operation Sindoor reflects the strength of New India.” He also noted the presence of NAAC A-grade universities in Jharkhand as a positive sign and shared his concern for improving the quality of higher education, stating that he has already conveyed this to the government. “Appointments of vice chancellors and other officials are in process. Though it is taking time, everything is being done as per procedure,” he added.
Sending a firm message to private universities, the Governor said, “The era of arbitrary functioning is over. Private institutions must strictly adhere to government rules and regulations, or face consequences.”
Education is the greatest weapon: Champai Soren
Former Chief Minister Champai Soren also addressed the convocation and highlighted the vital role of education. “Education is the most powerful weapon. It is the key to advancement,” he said. Soren recalled proposing the establishment of a degree college in Gamharia to provide rural students access to quality higher and technical education. “Education is wealth that only grows when shared,” he remarked.
