Are all BJP governments spotless: Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren

CM claims ED raids a political conspiracy to topple government, suppress tribal

Ranchi, November 18: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, a day after he was questioned by central agency ED for nearly 10 hours over money laundering charges, termed the action against him “an attempt to suppress the tribal, Dalit, backward communities and minorities”.

“Are all BJP governments absolutely spotless? Action is taken only against those states ruled by opposition . This is just a political conspiracy. But remember, Bhagwan Birsa Munda (the tribal icon) did not bow to the British. This won’t work. We will drive them away as our tribal heroes did to Britishers,” said Soren, addressing supporters who had gathered on Friday evening outside his Kanke residence in Ranchi.

“We have no problem with investigating agencies, but the way action is being taken against the governments of only non-BJP states – be it in Telangana, Kerala, Bengal, Bihar – these agencies should also answer if only the BJP’s governments are all clean and spotless,”  said Soren.

“Our rivals (read BJP) have been conspiring to topple the (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress) government ever since we came to power (in 2019),”

Soren also alleged that misdeeds of the previous government were being heaped on his dispensation.

“I visited the ED office yesterday. During the seven to eight hours of the question-answer session, I asked them (ED officials) if it was possible to do all that I was being charged with in just two years.”

Soren asserted that his government would provide full support to the agency if the probe was conducted in a fair manner without any partiality.
“The opposition feels pain in stomach seeing the popularity of this government, which is currently resolving all rural issues. When they found no other way, they put the blame of their old misdeeds on the current government,” he said.

“People of this state have now taken to the streets against the conspirators,” Soren stated. He also claimed that some “so-called adivasi-moolvasis”, in connivance with the opposition, are trying to mislead the “original settlers” of the community.

“It is high time you (people) take charge. Otherwise, anyone from Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh or Maharasthra will come here and rule Jharkhand. The BJP still bring people from outside and send them to Parliament. In the coming days, we want to see members of Advasi-Moolvasi communities in Assembly as well as Parliament,” he added.
