Jamshedpur : In a startling revelation the police here said that the 28-year-old girl Anita Besra was murdered by her two younger sisters and a 12-year-old brother at the roof of their house at Jahertola in Baridih under Sidhgora police station area on September 3 morning.

The police arrested all the three killers — the victim’s younger sister Rani (25), two minors who were 16-year-old and 12-year-old respectively. The police have also recovered the murder weapon — a hammer — from near the victim’s house following a probe to the sensational murder.

Superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand said in the beginning they thought that it may be a case of rape and murder. But as they probed the family members, they had started suspecting the hand of some family members behind the case.

“After we grilled the family members, we started talking to the neighbours. After getting enough hints that the relation between Anita and her siblings were not good, we had picked up Rani, the younger daughter of Bagirathy Besra for interrogation. After a prolonged interrogation Rani confessed,” said Anand.

The City SP said Rani conspired the murder of her sister a couple of days ago and got it executed on Saturday morning, while she was worshipping on the roof of her house.

“The three, who used to stay in a separate house, came to the roof. Rani caught hold of her hands from behind and her youngest sister wrapped her neck with a `dupatta’ and tightened it. Their brother hit her head with a hammer, causing the victim to die on the spot,” the police officer quoted Rani as saying.

According to the City SP, after the murder, the three had wrapped the body and covered it with some house-hold materials, to hide the crime. The trio carried the body at 3.30 am on Sunday and dropped it into the nullah.

According to police, Anita wanted to get the house sold and get herself settled, but her sisters and brother would oppose the move. The parents would also meted step-motherly treatment to their three children, where as they would show excessive love and affection to their eldest daughter.

Anita was missing from her house since Saturday morning and her body was found from the drain the next day. The victim’s mother had hinted to the police that her younger daughter ( Rani) might be involved in the murder.
