Jamshedpur: Socialist thinker and senior advocate Sudhir Kumar Pappu has called for strict action against those responsible for the disturbance at Tatanagar Railway Station , where 16 girls and three boys from the Scheduled Tribe community were stopped on allegations of religious conversion. He urged the district police and railway police administration to take immediate steps against the culprits, while also appealing to the Scheduled Tribes Commission and the Child Commission to take cognizance of the matter, as minors were involved.
Pappu expressed gratitude to the Jharkhand State Minority Commission for intervening and noted that the matter also falls within the purview of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. He stressed that independent investigations by these bodies were essential to ensure justice for the victims.
Highlighting the background of the Integrated People’s Development Center, Sundernagar, Pappu stated that the organization, established in 1970, has been conducting training programs and workshops on government welfare schemes and skill development with a commendable track record. He condemned the allegations of religious conversion as baseless, arguing that such charges, made without evidence, tarnish the reputation of institutions run by missionaries and are shameful in a civilized society.
Raising concerns about the role of the TTE of the South Bihar train, Pappu demanded an investigation into his call detail records, questioning why misleading information was passed on to those who created the ruckus. He added that the inquiry should have been handled by a child-friendly police officer, and the teenagers should have been given a safe and peaceful environment at the station.
Pappu further criticized the circulation of videos and photos of the minors on news platforms and social media, calling it a serious violation of the Juvenile Justice Act. He insisted that those responsible for such actions face legal consequences to set an example and prevent similar misconduct in the future.
