Jamshedpur, April 6: A spell of rain and thunderstorms swept across Jamshedpur on Monday evening, bringing welcome relief from the prevailing heat even as an extended phase of unstable weather sets in across the state.
The brief but impactful weather event resulted in 3 mm of rainfall, according to the local meteorological office, leading to a noticeable dip in day temperatures.
The maximum temperature in Jamshedpur dropped to 34.2°C, offering conditions closer to seasonal norms. Ranchi remained cooler at 31.3°C, while Daltonganj recorded a maximum of 34°C.

The rain comes against the backdrop of a broader weather alert issued by the Meteorological Department, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorm activity over the next three days.
On April 7, isolated hailstorms are likely over central and adjoining south-eastern parts of the state, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50–60 kmph. Similar conditions are expected on April 8, particularly over eastern and adjoining central regions, while other areas may experience slightly milder winds of 40–50 kmph.
By April 9, thunderstorm and lightning activity is expected to persist, especially over eastern and adjoining central parts, with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph at isolated places.
Meteorologists have advised residents to remain cautious during this period—avoiding open spaces during lightning strikes and securing loose objects to prevent damage from strong winds.
While the showers brought temporary comfort, the continuing weather volatility suggests that residents should stay alert as conditions remain dynamic in the days ahead.
