Saryu Roy to lead protest at Tatanagar Station against poor rail services

PSZMS to demand for Jaipur train, better passenger facilities

Jamshedpur, April 6: Preparations have been completed for a civic protest against the persistent delays in passenger trains, scheduled for Tuesday, April 7.
The demonstration has been convened at the initiative of Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy and will commence at 10:00 AM.

Stranded in patience at Tatanagar: Weary passengers wait under dimming hours on Monday, their journeys stalled by chronic delays at the A-1 category hub of South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur Division—where time, it seems, runs slower than the trains.

In the run-up to the event, workers of Janata Dal (United) carried out an extensive public outreach campaign to ensure strong participation.
Meetings were organized at the mandal level, and citizens were urged through social media platforms to join the protest in large numbers.
The dharna will be held near the main entrance of Tatanagar railway station and is already witnessing significant public support, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction over the recurring issue of train delays.

JD( U) leader slams railways’ inadequate response

Jamshedpur, April 6: Janata Dal (United) city president and convenor of the April 7 protest, Ajay Kumar, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the response submitted by the Assistant Divisional Commercial Manager to his earlier letter, stating that it fails to address the core concerns raised.
In a statement issued here, Kumar noted that the claims of “prompt action” mentioned in the first point of the reply have had no visible impact on the ground.
He further remarked that the references to short-term and long-term measures appear to be routine departmental plans rather than specific responses to the issues highlighted by him.
Kumar also pointed out that during a meeting held on Sunday between the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy, key directives were discussed. Roy had sought a detailed analysis of train delays over the past three months and asked for a comprehensive report. Additionally, he requested data on the number of trains passing through Jamshedpur over the last five years to assess whether there has been any increase or decline, and to identify reasons behind persistent delays.
He further emphasized that Roy had suggested prioritizing passenger trains, even if it required regulating freight train movement. However, Kumar alleged that no written report addressing these critical issues has been provided so far, contrary to assurances made by railway officials.
