Jamshedpur, August 21:  Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and national BJP Vice President Raghubar Das inspected the flood affected areas of Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency and blamed it on the lack of administrative preparedness for the situation. He said, “Administrative lapses caused damages due to administrative lapses and lack of preparedness. The residents of the low lying areas should have been cautioned and moved to upper regions prior to the opening of sluice gates of the Chandil Dam. The damages would have been comparatively much less had the administration been alert.”

Das asked the district administration to make arrangements for sprinkling of bleaching powder after the flood waters had receded to prevent the spread of epidemics as the residents of the affected localities returned to their homes. On Sunday morning, the former Jharkhand Chief Minister visited the flood affected areas of Kalyan Nagar, lower part of Gautam Vihar, Bihari Basti in Bagunhatu, Bhojpur Colony and other flood affected sites. He met the flood affected people and assured them of all possible help. Flattened rice (chewda) and jagery were distributed among the flooded affected people whose houses had been submerged by the flood waters.

Raghubar Das was accompanied by BJP Baridih Mandal President Santosh Thakur, General Secretary Kumar Abhishek, Jeevan Sahu, Vijay Sahu, Kanchan Dutta, Niket Singh, Praveen Singh, Nirmal Gope, Meera Jha, Pintu Singh, Ranjit Singh, Om Poddar, Sitaramdera Mandal President Suresh Kumar Sharma, Pawan Agarwal, Tuntun Singh, Santosh Kumar, Sajal Bhattacharya and Dhanraj Gupta.

On Saturday night, on the directive of Raghubar Das, the BJP Baridih and Sitaramdera Mandal teams started relief and rescue work in flood affected localities. They worked through Saturday night and Sunday to provide necessary relief to people who had taken shelter in higher regions of the river banks. The former Chief Minister appealed to all BJP workers in Jamshedpur to serve and help the people of the flood affected areas.
