ADM raid against social distancing violation in Jamshedpur, shopowners and customers arrested, Mall sealed

Jamshedpur, Oct 7: A team from district administration conducted raids at different shops and shopping centres to act against those violating social distancing guidelines.

The team was led by NK Lal ADM (Law and Order).

During the inspection, he checked the commuters on the streets and instructions were issued on spot directing bike riders to follow social distancing norms.

He along with other senior officials visited shops at Sakchi market and arrested around 60 such violators. Those arrested were sent to camp jail.

�Several violator has been nabbed during the drive. Notices have also been issued against several shopkeepers who were not wearing masks nor having sanitizers at their premises.

It has been advocated that wearing masks and use of hand sanitizers are compulsory for all people who visit for shopping,� said an official.

He further reiterated that social distancing should be maintained at all markets to prevent spread of COVID-19 virus.

 During the inspection, ADM directed the local authorities to ensure that all restrictions are strictly enforced and no complacency shall be accepted which would defeat the purpose of containing COVID-19 virus spread.

Despite the rising number of COVID-19 cases, the administration has observed that not all are following the rules.

�Shopkeepers and the public are avoiding the precautionary measures to be followed to check the spread of the virus. We cannot afford to slip at this moment. We have started a strict enforcement drive,� said the official.

He added that supermarkets and other shops should allow only a limited number of customers into the premises at a time. 

He said maintaining social distancing norms, wearing masks and sanitising shops twice a day has also been made mandatory as per the directions of the Union Home Ministry. He further noted that people should avoid street food.

 The administration has also made it mandatory for everyone to wear a mask (either three-layered or made of cloth) if they are outside their homes. And those violating this rule are being booked by police.

 The district administration has asked all commercial establishments as well as the general public to ensure strict adherence to notified norms of lockdown and avoid all forms of gatherings and crowds.

Speaking in reference to it the ADM expressed concerns about violations of social distancing guidelines and closure orders. He appealed to the general public to observe the lockdown in letter and spirit warning of strict punishments for violations under the law.
