Aaryan Raj of LFS bags best swimmer award at regional meet

Carmel Junior College crowned overall champion, Little Flower School end runners-up

Jamshedpur, August 11: Motilal Nehru Public School, Jamshedpur hosted the ASISC Regional Swimming Championship 2018 on 11th August, in which 79 contestants from 16 schools, all over Bihar & Jharkhand, participated.

Overall championship winner was Carmel Junior College with 72 points and Little Flower School with 19 points bagged the runners-up title. The best swimmer award in the junior boys’ category was won by Vaibhav Pratap of Motilal Nehru Public School. In the senior boys category Aaryan Raj Singh of Little Flower School won the best prize. In the junior girls group Anjali Singh of Carmel Junior College was first.

Earlier, the chief guest for the event was the Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop Birtheray addressed the gathering with his motivational words directing the students towards the value of healthy living which could be incorporated in children with the help of sports. Anoop Birtheray also declared the meet open.

Students from Carmel High School (Patna) , Carmel Jr. College, Church School Beldih , DBMS English School , Denobli School (Dhanbad),Don Bosco Academy (Patna), J. H. Tarapore School , Kerala Public School Mango , Kerala Samajam Model School , Little Flower School , Loyola School , Motilal Nehru Public School , Narbheram Hansraj English School , Rajendra Vidyalaya , Sacred Heart Convent , Sri Krishna Public School participated in the championship.

General Secretary of school managing committee Dr. D. P. Shukla, encouraged the contestants. He emphasized on the advantages of mental and physical fitness through swimming. He also put focus on the fact that scholastic and co – scholastic activities should go hand in hand for the all around value-based development of a child.

The event was graced with the presence of Indrani Singh, Zonal coordinator along with Principals of various schools including Father Pias of Loyola School, Sister Hilda of Little Flower School, Nandini Shukla of K.S.M.S, Lalita Sareen of Zee Litera, Swarna Mishra Convenor, Rakhi Banerjee of Rajendra Vidyalaya, Smita Sinha of Gulmohur High School and others.

The event was decorated by a Yoga presentation based on the theme of swimming, colorful and vibrant dance performed by the tiny-tots, March past and Flag Hoisting. The various heats of the morning were 50 & 100 mts. Butterfly, 50 & 100mts Free Style, 50 mts. Backstroke, 50 Mts. Breast Stroke & a few more.

The meet was declared closed by Vice Principal Mrs. Ritu Chaudhary. MNPS Principal Ashu Tiwary proposed the vote of thanks. Akhilesh Dubey, Chairman, School Managing Committee appreciated the efforts of the technical; advisors and various officials. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to Ram Balak Singh, National Level Swimming Champion for providing Jamshedpur with a swimming pool which qualifies the International standards.

“The success of the event was teamwork of 20 technical assistants, officials, teachers, staff & students, ” said Principal Ashu Tiwari.
