9 DRG jawans killed in Naxal blast in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Nine security personnel of ant-insurgency forced Dantewada District Reserve Guard (DRG) were killed after their vehicle was blown up by CPI-Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur on Monday.

Inspector General of Police 9IG) Bastar confirmed the death of the jawans.

The IG said, “The jawans lost their lives after their vehicle was blown up by Naxals through an IED blast, in Bijapur. They were returning after a joint operation of Dantewada, Narayanpur and Bijapur.”

The killed nine jawans of the DRG were part of the anti-insurgency team which had gunned down five red rebels on Sunday. Out of the five rebels killed two were women cadres of the banned outfit. A senior head constable of the DRG was also killed in the fierce gunfight between the Maoist and the security forces.
