Bulldozers Roll on Tata–Kandra Road: Over 50 Illegal Structures Demolished in Gamharia

Gamharia: Acting on directives from the district administration, a massive anti-encroachment drive was carried out on Friday to clear the Tata–Kandra Main Road and its adjoining service lanes, starting with the Gamharia stretch.

The operation marks the first phase of a comprehensive campaign to reclaim public spaces from unauthorized occupation and restore smooth traffic flow on this vital arterial road.

Bulldozers Clear Encroachments from Lal Building Chowk

Following prior public notices issued by the administration, the enforcement team focused its efforts on the service road extending from Lal Building Chowk on both sides, up to Bolaydih Road, as far as Bhagat Medical Store.

Using bulldozers, the team dismantled several illegal structures and removed:

  • More than 50 temporary sheds were extended by shopkeepers outside their permanent establishments.
  • Numerous makeshift roadside stalls and structures are blocking the service lanes.

The sudden crackdown on long-standing encroachments triggered panic and confusion among local vendors. While a few shopkeepers had voluntarily dismantled their extensions ahead of the drive, others engaged in minor confrontations and heated arguments with officials in an attempt to halt the demolition. The administration remained firm, however, and executed the drive without interruption.

Enforcement Team Warns Against Re-occupation

Senior officials present at the site emphasized that freeing the main carriageway and service roads is absolutely crucial for public convenience and road safety. They warned that the campaign will continue in phases, and the administration will take strict legal action against anyone attempting to reoccupy the cleared spaces.

A heavily coordinated team led the high-profile drive, including:

  • Parul Singh, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the Adityapur Municipal Corporation
  • Praveen Kumar, Circle Officer of Gamharia
  • Balwant Singh, Circle Inspector
  • Tarun Thakur and Vinod Kumar Tirkey, Officer-in-Charge of Adityapur Police Station

Large contingents of police personnel supported the operation alongside officials from the Road Construction Department, Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA), and the Jharkhand Housing Board.

Authorities confirmed that the anti-encroachment crackdown will expand into Adityapur and the surrounding industrial areas in the coming days.
