Jamshedpur, August 24: The voting process for the Jamshedpur Bar Association elections concluded with an 83% voter turnout. Out of 1,520 eligible members, approximately 1,233 participated in the voting, with results expected to be declared late at night. The process began at 9 AM when all 60 candidates were briefed about the ballot papers, and the voter box was sealed in their presence.
The three-member election committee, led by Advocate Virendra Singh, oversaw the proceedings, while senior advocate Ram Subhag Singh and Vice President of Jharkhand State Bar Council, Rajesh Kumar Shukla, were present as observers. Voting commenced at 10 AM, with advocates Babita Jain, Amarjeet Kaur Biswas and DK Biswas casting the first votes.
To accommodate the large number of voters, three tables were set up for ballot distribution, with color-coded papers to facilitate easy voting. The Bar Bhawan’s first floor was arranged with cardboard partitions for secret voting. Long queues formed since early morning, and senior advocates and women had separate arrangements. After voting, participants received breakfast packets provided by the Bar Association.
The entire process was monitored through CCTV cameras, and district police were present for security. A total of 60 candidates are vying for 16 posts, including those for President, Vice President, General Secretary, among others. According to Election Committee spokesperson Advocate Ranjan Dhari Singh, vote counting would begin after 6 PM.
