
Jamshedpur: Mystery shrouds the death of a 25-year-old youth Suraj Bhuiyan who was killed on Kalimati Road near Sakchi Gurudwara under Sakchi police station area late last night.The family members have alleged that the victim was lynched by a mob suspecting him to be thief.

Another youth of the same age, Karan Sandil who was along with Suraj has sustained grievous head injury has been admitted at MGM medical college hospital.

On Saturday family members along with a section of a right wing outfit’s members also protested at the MGM medical college hospital, claiming that this to be a case of lynching and the crime was committed by members of minority community.

An the news spread police rushed to the spot and intervened immediately and pacified the protestors, assuring that they would do everything to find out the truth behind the death of Suraj Bhuiyan and injury caused to Karan.

According to Karan who is a resident of Sitaramdera said it was about 11.30 pm when they two were returning home on foot having taken their dinner at an eatery in Sakchi market.

“While walking the road leading to Milkhiram Building we stopped for a while near a flower shop. Then few youths came and wanted to know the reason behind standing there and they branded us as thieves. Soon after they started assaulted us, causing we two to flee toward Kalimati road. While I ran toward Howrah bridge, Suraj was beaten so hard that he lost sense and he died,� said the one of the victims.
Revealing about the case, superintendent of police (City) Subhash Chandra Jat said that as per the initial it seems that the victim died after being hit by a vehicle. However the family members alleged that the victim died after being beaten by local youths. He said that the police are investigating the incident.
” We demand justice. We have gathered here to demand high level probe.Our child was lynched by local youths,” said a family member.
Kolhan has been in news over rising cases of lynching incidents. After 24-year Tabrez Ansari who was allegedly fell victim of mob lynching on the wee hours of June 18, the police are taking every step to educate people not to take law in their hands. In the last few years Kolhan division has witnessed incidents of several people getting attacked by suspicious mobs.
In 2017too, four cattle traders were also lynched at different villages in Rajnagar block of Seraikela-Kharsawan district while three youths (including two brothers Gautam and Vikas Verma) were lynched at Nagadih in Bagbera.
