2000 participate in Archery competition at Baghmara

Jadugora, Feb. 26: Sri Sri Shivaratri Puja Committee Baghmara (Narwa Pahar) to help protect the culture and heritage of Jharkhand on Sunday organised an archery competition.

At the contest around 2000 participants from Jharkhand, Bengal and Orissa participated. Before the commencement of the tournament, mukhiya of Baghmara Biltu Hansda while addressing the inaugural function said, archery is not just limited to hunting festival by it has become a medium of choosing a bright career option.

Its due to Archery that Jharkhand’s Jhanu Hansda, Laxmi Rani Majhi have a made a name for themselves in the international arena. The sport has been drawing a lot of youths where Tata Steel is doing a lot to promote Archery in the region and several players of the Tata Archery Academy have made it to Olympics.

Chief Guest for the Occasion was Narwapahar mine superintendent Falguni Sarkar where Additional manager PK Nayak was also present.

Later the competition was held where the first prize winner was given Rs 50 thousand while the second and the third prize was given Rs 30 thousand each.

Total of 20 winning participants were awarded. To make the event successful, members of the Sri Sri Shivaratri Puja Committee including Khelaram Soren, Narayan Murmu, Naram Soren, Amit Murmu, Bhagirath Mumru, Sudhir Soren, Babulal Murmu, Babulal Hansda, Surya Narayan Murmu, Bappi Namta, Sushil Mumru, Bhatu, Ghunu, Shibu, Vishal, Motu Singh, Ranjeet Shahil, Ashok Hansda, Akash and others were present.
