Jamshedpur, Jan 12: A heart-rending incident was reported from Sopodera Kurmi Tola under the Parsudih police station area on Monday, where a 14-year-old boy, Ankit Lohar, allegedly committed suicide.
Ankit was a Class IX student of Shyama Prasad School, and the tragedy has left the entire locality in deep shock and mourning.
At the time of the incident, Ankit was at home with only his seven-year-old younger sister, while their mother, Mona Lohar, had gone to work as part of her daily routine.
It is reported that when the little girl entered the room, she found her brother hanging.
Terrified by the sight, she raised an alarm, informed nearby residents, and called her mother to report what had happened.
Relatives and local residents rushed to the spot and immediately took Ankit to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
When his mother reached the hospital and saw her son’s lifeless body, she broke down inconsolably.
Several people present tried to comfort her as the hospital premises turned emotionally charged.
Following the incident, Parsudih police arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation.
Sub-Inspector Gyan Bhushan Tigga said that the spot was inspected and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
The police are probing the circumstances that led to the boy taking this extreme step, though no clear reason has emerged so far.
Ankit’s father had passed away earlier, and the family consisted only of the mother, Ankit and his younger sister.
With this tragedy, the family has been devastated by yet another blow.
Neighbours and acquaintances are in deep grief, as questions continue to be raised about what compelled such a young student to take such a drastic step.
