Ranchi: There will be five women candidates in the first phase of Parliamentary elections while seven in the second phase in the state. Notwithstanding tall claims by political parties on giving more tickets to women, the total number of women candidates has hardly touched a two digit figure in Jharkhand.
In the first phase, elections will be held in Koderma, Chatra, Palamu and Lohardagga. In Lohardagga, there is not a single women candidate in fray. In Chatra, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha has given a ticket to Neelam Devi while Aam Admi Party has given ticket to Seema Chandravanshi.
Trinamool Congress has given ticket to Manju Kumari from Kodarma while Kanchan Kumari is contesting as an independent candidate. CPI has given ticket to Sushma Mehta from Palamu. In the second phase elections, Bahujan Samaj Party has given ticket to Sheela Devi from Hazaribagh while Aam Admi Party and Samajwadi Party have given tickets to Dayamani Barla and Nitima Bodra Bara respectively.
From Singhbhum, Gita Koda is contesting as a candidate of Jai Bharat Samanata Party while Snehlata Jojo, Shazia Haider and Ashtria Tuti are contesting from Singhbhum, Ranchi and Khunti respectively.
