Jamshedpur: Kolhan University has selected 112 candidates under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). The selected candidates will complete a one-year apprenticeship across various university departments and constituent colleges.
The initiative bridges the gap between academic learning and practical workplace experience, helping students develop the essential skills that today’s competitive job market demands.
Selected Candidates to Receive Monthly Stipend of ₹12,000
According to the university’s notification, each selected apprentice will receive a monthly stipend of ₹12,000 during the training period. The university will disburse the stipend in accordance with guidelines from the Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region) and the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Jharkhand.
University officials stated that they designed the scheme to provide hands-on exposure to institutional work environments while offering financial support to participants.
University Sets Reporting Deadline from June 9 to June 16
The university has directed all selected candidates to report for duty at the campus or their allotted colleges on any working day between June 9 and June 16, 2026. Candidates who fail to join within this stipulated period will automatically forfeit their selection.
At the time of joining, candidates must submit self-attested copies of their academic certificates, passport-size photographs, and a joining report.
Apprenticeship Does Not Guarantee Regular Employment
The university administration clarified that the apprenticeship engagement lasts for one year only and will automatically conclude upon completion of the training period. The university will not entertain any subsequent claims for extensions or regular appointments.
Officials emphasized that the programme prioritizes skill enhancement and practical exposure over permanent employment.
Vice-Chancellor Encourages Youth to Utilize the Opportunity
Congratulating the selected candidates, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Anjila Gupta described the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme as an important platform that combines academic knowledge with practical experience.
She noted that career success now requires robust skill development and work experience, and she urged apprentices to perform their responsibilities with discipline, commitment, and dedication. She expressed confidence that the programme would contribute significantly to the participants’ overall development.

She expressed hope that participants would use the opportunity to strengthen their skills, competence, and confidence.
Registrar Dr. Ranjit Kumar Karn also congratulated the selected candidates and urged them to complete the joining process within the prescribed timeframe.
A Major Boost to Employment-Oriented Skill Development
