10-year-old boy drowns in Kharkai at Baroda ghat

Jamshedpur, Oct. 22 : A 10-year-old boy was drowned in Baroda ghat in Kharkai river under Bagbera police station area on Sunday morning.The victim was identified as Ayush Chaudhury, son of Dhiraj Chaudhury, a resident of Bajrang Tekri Road in Bagbera.
According to information the victim had gone out of their house for playing cricket at a field near the river ghat along with other children of the same age group, but instead of playing cricket they had come to the river ghat for taking bath.

Sources informed that three of the children had entered into the river at the Baroda Ghat for taking bath while the other children were standing nearby.

Due to rain water was deep in the Baroda Ghat all the three started drowning. But a man who was also taking bath nearby came to rescue drowning children. The man managed to save two of them, but he failed to save the third one. The victim was identified as Ayush.

Ayush was the only son among three children of his parents and was a class III student of a government-run middle school in Bagbera. His father Dhiraj is an auto-rickshaw driver.

OC, Bagberapolice station Ram Yash Prasad confirmed about the drowning of the boy.”A 10-year-old boy was drowned while taking bath in Kharkairiver. We are investigating the incident. As per the initial probe there were two more boys were also drowning in the Kharkai, but the duo were rescued by a local resident. But the third boy could not be saved,” said the OC.
