Camp organized for empowering masses

Principal district and Sessions judge Manoj Prasad in his address to beneficiaries said that the purpose of organizing the camp was not only for awareness but also to empower the masses. He said, “Initially, people understood that Judiciary meant gfoingh to the court. But now, the concept has been expanded. You must know your rights and to ensure that you avail of your rights the judiciary is present amidst you. You do not have to go to different places to avail of the benefits of various schemes and for that purpose the services of the judiciary and executives are at hand to provide you the facilities under one roof.”

Purpose of the camp is to reach out to ignored segment

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Suraj Kuimar said that every Indian citizen was empowered with equal rights. “But there are a few segments who are unable to avail of this advantage. Such camps have been organized throughout the state under the guidelines of JHALSA at all district and Block levels.” Suraj Kumar stated that the East Singhbhum district had a maximum number of beneficiaries of central and state government schemes. “It is our endeavor that citizens are not deprived of the benefits meant for them as a result of which such camps have been organized. During the coronavirus phase, many projects had follen dormant but with the dark clouids of infection moving away, the schemes are getting back on tracks.” The DC informed that the vaccination drive was being conducted smoothly by the district administration among health workers after which front line workers would be inoculated. Suraj Kumar informed that as per government directives, in the third phase of the drive, people over 50 years of age would be vaccinated. He also gave a detailed account of the development projects successfully launched in the district.

Essential to know of constitutional rights

SSP Dr M Tamil vanan observed at the camp that the Constitution had provided rights for every citizen equally but people residing in remote areas were not aware of their constitutional rights. The SSP in his address stated, “It is imperative to know what empowerments have been granted to us in the Constitution so that we can avail of them. We have to be aware how we can fight against injustice and only then can we feel empowered. The circumference of our rights is much wider and is not just confined to labour, family and property issues. Our rights include measures by which we can avail of benefits of projects and schemes, which office should be contacted to be informed about what projects are being run by the government for our development. Awareness of our rights will enable us to know which projects have been designed for our benefits.”
