XLRI Jamshedpur to host POMS International Conference from Dec 4

Jamshedpur: The highly anticipated POMS India Chapter Conference 2023 is set to unfold at XLRI – Xavier School of Management in Jamshedpur from December 4 to 6. Themed “Envisioning the Future of Operations for Sustainability,” the conference, hosted by XLRI, aims to catalyze collaboration between scholars and industry experts in the realm of Production and Operations Management. Its overarching goal is to spur innovation and explore avenues for the field to contribute significantly to sustainable practices.

This international conference serves as a pivotal platform for global academicians, researchers, and practitioners to exchange insights and strategies in Production and Operations Management. The agenda places a special emphasis on achieving carbon neutrality, enhancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in Supply Chain Management, navigating supply chain crises, and assessing the impact of advanced technologies on real-world operations.

Fr S George, the Director of XLRI Jamshedpur, expressed anticipation for the event, stating, “With the theme ‘Envisioning the Future of Operations for Sustainability,’ the POMS India Chapter Conference 2023 at XLRI is poised to ignite insightful discussions and actionable strategies for a more sustainable future. We look forward to fostering an environment of collaboration and learning that will drive positive change in the landscape of Production and Operations Management.”

The conference chair, Prof. Alok Raj, outlined a comprehensive agenda, including over 160 paper presentations from global contributors and representations from esteemed institutions such as IIMs, IITs, ISB, and other B-schools. With over 300 participants, the conference will feature three-panel discussions on Carbon Neutrality, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and Digital Supply Chain. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a research workshop conducted by Prof. Vinod Singhal, the Charles W. Brady Chair Professor of Operations Management at the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA.

Distinguished industry experts will share their views on various topics related to sustainability, including Vadiraj Kulkarni, Divisional Chief Executive at ITC. The lineup includes luminaries such as Harini Muralidharan, Human Resources Director at Dentsu; Ashok Priyadarshi, Sr. Vice President – HR & CSR at Alkem Laboratories Ltd; Quamar Tauheed, Chief HRBP at Tata Steel; and other leaders from prominent organizations such as Philips, IBM, Mahindra Group, and Tata Motors.

The POMS India International Conference 2023 promises to be a convergence of minds, fostering dialogue and action towards a future where operations are not only efficient but also sustainable, contributing to global development goals.
