Jamshedpur, April 11: A three-day workshop on ‘Remaining Life Assessment & Failure of Engineering Components (RFec’23) got underway on Tuesday, April 11 at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur with participants from some of the premier organizations of the country including NTPC, Indian Navy, and BPCL attending the programme. They will be provided rich exposure to the expertise and state-of-the-art facilities at CSIR-NML. The workshop will present the participants with a comprehensive glimpse of ‘remaining life assessment and failure’ investigation protocols that can act as guidelines while assessing the structural integrity of engineering components in their respective organizations.

Chief Scientist and Head-Knowledge Resources and Information Technology Division, Dr Mita Tarafder, in her welcome address, briefed the participants on CSIR-NML’s longstanding legacy in component integrity evaluation and failure investigations since 1953. This was followed by the briefing about the workshop by Dr. Raghuvir Singh, Chief Scientist of the Materials Engineering Division of CSIR-NML and Technical Co-coordinator of the programme, Dr Raghuvir Singh provided a briefing about the workshop. The inaugural programme concluded after an introductory session with participants conducted by Senior Principal Scientist, Materials Engineering Division Dr Mainak Ghosh. The three-day workshop between April 11 and 13 will cover a broad range of activities starting from basic theories to detailed case studies and demonstrations.
