Strict warning against misuse of social media
Jamshedpur: With Durga Puja round the corner, District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Karna Satyarthi and Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey chaired a crucial meeting of the Central Peace Committee at Town Hall, Sidgora, on Monday. The focus was on ensuring a safe, orderly, and harmonious celebration across the district.
Top district officials, including Rural SP Rishabh Garg, ADM (Law and Order) Bhagirath Prasad, and senior officers from various departments, joined the deliberations. Law and order, traffic regulation, crowd management, security arrangements, and public facilities were the core agenda.

Members of the Central Peace Committee raised pressing concerns regarding uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, sanitation, road repairs, drop gates, deputation of women constables, traffic management, and arrangements at immersion ghats. The administration assured that corrective steps are already underway based on inputs from police station-level peace committee meetings.
Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi underlined that the administration is vigilantly monitoring all festival arrangements. “Work is on to strengthen the security system and maintain law and order. We are committed to ensuring devotees do not face inconvenience. Cooperation from citizens is crucial,” he said. He urged Puja committees to adhere strictly to the designated immersion route, coordinate with local police stations, keep generators and sound systems in order, pre-mark parking spaces, and ensure functional CCTV coverage.

SSP Piyush Pandey emphasized that women’s security remains paramount. He directed committees to engage women volunteers in pandals and to mandatorily secure NOCs from the electricity and fire departments. Warning against the misuse of social media, he urged citizens not to forward unverified information. “Check with the local police station, CO, or BDO before believing or sharing anything,” he said.
Puja organizers were instructed to: Restrict entry inside pandals to their approved capacity. Create separate entry and exit routes. Install CCTV in pandals and fairgrounds with continuous monitoring. Share volunteer lists with local police for briefing. Arrange systems for lost-and-found announcements and ensure first aid kits remain available.
Among those present were SOR Rahul Anand, District Supply Officer Zulfiqar Ansari, NDC David Balihar, Additional Municipal Commissioner (JUSCO) Krishna Kumar, DTO Dhananjay, SDO Dhalbhum Chandrajit Singh, DPRO Panchanan Oraon, besides all BDOs, COs, DSPs, and police station in-charges.
The administration appealed to all citizens and Puja committees to extend full cooperation in making Durga Puja celebrations safe, peaceful, and memorable.
