Chaibasa, Mar 8: In a grand event organized by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, in Hyderabad on March 6, several women achievers from the mining sector were honoured for their outstanding contributions. The event, held on the eve of International Women’s Day, was graced by the Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey and Telangana’s Women and Child Welfare Minister, Anusuya Seethakka. The program aimed to recognize and celebrate the efforts of women working in the mining sector, a field that has traditionally been male-dominated.
Among the awardees were five women employees from Tata Steel Limited’s Noamundi Iron Mine, who were recognized as “Achievers” for their exceptional dedication and contributions. The honoured employees included Disha Ramesh Khade and Mahima Tripathi, both working as Mining Managers, along with Revati Purti, Taneshwari Nayak and Durga Majhi, who are Operations Assistants for Shovel and HMEO. Their recognition is particularly significant, as Tata Steel Noamundi Mines has set a historic precedent by becoming the first in Indian industry to operate an entire shift exclusively by women. This groundbreaking initiative, inaugurated on December 16, 2024, marks a major step toward gender inclusion and empowerment in the mining industry.
