Woman killed while crossing Jugsalai railway track in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 21:  The mother of businessman Rajkumar Mittal, Saroj Devi lost her life after being struck by a train near the Jugsalai railway gate. Reports indicate that Saroj Devi had just returned from a yoga camp organized by Brahmakumari in Bistupur and was heading home after disembarking from an auto-rickshaw.

Witnesses reported that Saroj Devi attempted to cross the railway tracks through the closed gate at Jugsalai when an Asansol MEMU train approached. Unfortunately, due to her hearing impairment, she was unaware of the approaching train and did not notice it until the last moment. In a panic, she tried to move back, but her slipper got stuck, causing her to fall onto the tracks. Tragically, she was unable to escape and was fatally injured by the passing train.

The incident has raised concerns among locals about the safety of crossing closed railway gates, despite the risks involved. There have been ongoing discussions about constructing a foot overbridge in the area for the past year to prevent such accidents. However, the foot overbridge has yet to materialize, leading to continued peril for pedestrians.
