Jamshedpur, May 31: A female passenger gave birth to a child on platform number one of Tatanagar railway station on Friday morning. The delivery was facilitated by a female constable from the Government Railway Police (GRP) stationed at the platform.

The woman, identified as Mangri Lomga, was traveling with her husband Mantu Champai from Ludhiana to Sonuwa in West Singhbhum district aboard the Jallianwala Bagh Express. As the train arrived at the station around 5 am, Lomga experienced severe labor pains, prompting her to lie down in front of the GRP station.

Constable Sakhi Chandra Prasad, who was on duty at the GRP station, quickly responded to the situation and alerted station officials for immediate medical assistance. Although the railway medical team reached the platform shortly thereafter, Lomga had already given birth to a healthy child.

Both the mother and the new-born were subsequently transferred to Sadar Hospital for further medical attention. Both are reported to be in good health.
