10 dead as heatwave singes Jharkhand’s Palamu

Palamu, May 31: Intense heat waves in Palamu district of Jharkhand took the lives of 17 people in two days.

Seven people died on Thursday, while 10 died on Friday due to heat wave.

On May 30, 23 people died in Jharkhand due to deadly heat. On Friday, the maximum temperature of Palamu was 46 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 31.5 degrees Celsius.

Sandeep Sao, the nine-year-old son of Dinesh Sao, a resident of Tendua village of Mohammadganj police station area of Palamu, had gone to Japla with family members. While returning, his health deteriorated in Haidernagar. The family took him to a private clinic. The doctor declared him dead. He died due to heat wave.

Mukesh Meena (32 years), a trackman working at Kajrat Nawadih railway station, died after being caught in the heat wave. Ruby Bibi (27 years) of Masjid Road, Haidernagar died during treatment at Sub-Divisional Hospital, Hussainabad.

 

70-year-old woman Rehana Bibi, resident of Kabra Khurd village, Haidernagar, died on Thursday while being taken to the hospital.

30-year-old Shanta Devi of Deori Kala of Hussainabad block died on Thursday during treatment at Sub-Divisional Hospital, Hussainabad.

 

Lalmuni Devi (35 years), a woman of Birdhwar village of Mohammadganj block, suddenly fainted while cooking food. She died later. 7. Animal herder Chanardev Yadav (70 years) of Bhitar Panti village had gone out to graze the animals. He was sitting under the shade of a tree, when he felt dizzy and vomited and died. Anantiya Devi (80 years) of Sighna village died. Nan Dev Rajwar (75 years) died due to severe heat wave.

Rashid Khan (55 years), working in the construction corporation of North Koel Project of Sabanwa village, died due to heat stroke. Saleha Khatun (75 years) of Sighna village died due to heat stroke.

Rajapatia Devi (75 years) of Navka Tola also died due to heat stroke. 38-year-old Vikas Kumar, working in a medicine shop in Hamidganj of Medininagar city, died.

75-year-old Abhiyani Devi of Bhatwalia village of Pandu police station area died due to heat stroke. 90-year-old Mangira Devi of Pandu police station area also died. 52-year-old Anil Kumar Awasthi, a scrap businessman from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, also died due to extreme heat.

Suresh Ram of Bara village of Chhatarpur police station area of Palamu district also died due to extreme heat stroke.
