Woman commits suicide after jewelry theft

Jamshedpur, Nov. 27: A 50-year-old woman committed suicide at her house in Nirmalnagar under Sonari police station area on Friday after her daughter’s jewelries were stolen.

The deceased, Bimla Devi, is reported to be suffering from depression. According to the police, the woman committed and they have started interrogating the deceased’s tenant, who is suspected to have stolen the jewelries.

Officer-in-charge, Sonari police station, Suman Anand said that on Friday evening that both Bimla Devi and her husband Kapildev Singh had come to the police station to lodge a theft complaint.

�Kaplidev assumed that Bimla Devi might be shocked after losing the jewelries worth over Rs 2 lakh,” said Suman.

Revealing about the theft, the officer-in-charge said that Kapildev had kept a tenant at his two-room house 10 days ago.

The tenant, a young couple and a one-year-old baby, had left the house with bag and baggage on Wednesday afternoon when both Kapildev and Bimla had gone to their workplace. Later during a casual search, Bimla had discovered that her daughter’s jewelries were missing.

According to relatives, both Kapildev and Bimla work at separate private firms and would leave their house by 6 a.m. every morning only to return home by 5 p.m. every day.
