Jamshedpur: A 45 year old woman, identified as Tiya Seet, was assaulted with sharp weapons by her husband in Chakulia police station area on Sunday, police said.
Sources said the victim, a resident of Kangarigora, had gone to the forest to bring firewood. When she was busy picking woods, her husband allegedly attacked her with an axe from behind.
The victims limbs were severed in the incident. She was taken to Chakulia health centre where doctors referred her to MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur. She reportedly told police about her husbands involvement in the incident.
Police officials suspect a family dispute led to the incident. They have lodged an FIR against the accused. They said the woman was staying in Chakulia after being fed up of her husbands violent behavior.
A fortnight ago, her husband Tapan Seet, came to her and asked her to go along with him. When she refused to go saying her daughters wedding was round the corner, Tapan went away. Today when the woman went to the forest, he attacked her with axe near the old airstrip of Chakulia.
