Jamshedpur, Aug 11: The ninth edition of DAV Public School, Bistupur Model United Nations (DBMUN) an Intra School event, commenced on Wednesday at DAV Public School, Bistupur.
The Steel City’s largest and oldest school MUN, DBMUN, gives a platform to students to express their views on the agendas for their specific committees and showcase diplomacy at a very young age.
Principal Pragya Singh along with core committee teachers inaugurated the three-day annual event.
Principal in her inaugural address welcomed the delegates and appreciated the efforts of parents and teachers to bring out the best in students. She highlighted the importance of co-curricular activities in the life of a student which grooms him/her to become better human being. She advised the students to make the best use of the opportunities available and try to bring a difference in the world.
She insisted the students to follow the path of right and to listen to their consciousness. The main message to the delegates was “Reflect- Realign the thoughts- Rethink and Be Successful at the End.”
The Secretary General of DBMUN, Master Shubhrank Priya addressed the gathering and declared the event open. He added that this is the perfect platform for students to learn critical social skills and many students will “find their voice” through Model UN, and realize their leadership potential and social ability.
193 students, simulating as delegates of classes VII to XII participated in the mock sessions of DBMUN 2022, to gain experiences and enhance their soft skills. The students have been divided into four committees, United Nations Security Council (UNSC), All India Political Party Meet (AIPPM), United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
