Jharkhand CM nod to service extension of assistant police personnel 

Ranchi, August 11: Acting on the directive of Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren state home department has decided to extend service period of assistant police personnel  in the state.

Hemant Soren tweeted the directive issued by chief minister’s principal secretary Rajeev Arun Ekka who is also the principal secretary home Jharkhand that government is seriously considering on extending service period and other demands of the assistant police personnel.

Regarding this, Rajiv Arun Ekka has written a letter to Jharkhand DGP Neeraj Sinha, and has written a letter saying that the matter related to the demands of the assistant police personnel is under consideration. Their service extension and other demands are being considered by the department. Till then, the assistant policemen who are currently working in the districts, will remain out of work for an additional one month in their tenure (5 years), so that their demands can be decided and they are not rendered jobless till then.

According to information, 500 assistant policemen of Dumka, Simdega and Jamshedpur were supposed to have been relieved from their duty earlier this month.

 In the order issued by the Dumka Police, it has been said that on February 27, 2017, out of the areas included in the Focus Area Development Plan, 2500 contract assistant police personnel were appointed for 12 districts of the state. All these auxiliary police personnel were given an extension of three years, one year after the other which came to an end  on 8 August 2022. After which they are decommissioned from 11 August.

2500 assistant policemen reinstated on contract basis in 12 Naxal affected districts had agitated in Morhabadi ground in September 2021 for their demands. The agitation of the assistant policemen, who had been agitating for 37 days, ended on 3 November 2021. The assistant policemen withdrew the movement after a meeting with the office bearers even before the CM House gherao program.

The assurance was given to maintain the service of assistant policemen and fulfill eight other demands including relaxation of age limit in the job of police personnel,  increasing the honorarium except direct permanent appointment, reinstatement of service till 2022 were discussed.

According to the information, a high level committee was constituted to consider the demands of the assistant policemen.
