Ranchi, June 7: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said the state government is making efforts to open libraries till the panchayat level. Making the announcement at the release of 54 books published by Prabhat Prakashan here, Das said books take any country’s culture and civilisation to the global level.
The libraries would have books on Jharkhand’s martyrs, culture and tradition, he said adding people should
purchase books as they open the windows of wisdom. Das appealed to the social institutions to open libraries and the government would support in this regard. He also urged publishers to reduce prices so that more people could purchase books.
Along with the electronic media, newspapers’ role was increasing and similarly necessity of books have also
increased. Besides Hindi and English, books should also be published in the regional languages of Jharkhand, he said.
State welfare minister Louis Marandi, education minister Neera Yadav and MLA Shiv Shankar Oraon were among others present on the occasion.
