Jamshedpur, Dec. 24: The preliminaries of Wheels 2017 concluded on Saturday. The final day saw a huge crowd presence at all the locations to participate in various competitions.
The first event of the day was ‘Bob the Builder’ where students were given plastic sheets, scissors, news papers, disposal glass and egg. The idea was to make parachute and other creative ideas through these materials.
6 teams, out of 100 participating teams proceeded to the finals in Counter Strike. After 1st round of rough and tough knockout sessions and the 2nd rounds of time challenge finally 32 racers made it to the finals of Need for Speed Most Wanted out of 600+ participants.
Out of 300 participating teams in cricket game event Batman, 8 teams have been selected for finals.
In football event, Shaolin Soccer, 10 teams out of 250 participating teams have been chosen for quarter finals. Out of 80 participating teams in Space jam Basketball, 8 Boys team and 4 Girls team have been selected for the finals.
Art Attack witnessed the participation of 150 students in 3 categories, out of which 10 students in each category will be selected for the finals.
The Mask, Face Painting Competition, saw 35 participants out of which 3 shall proceed to the finals. Further, a special prize shall be given to the participant who receives the maximum number of likes on Facebook.
Each team had two participants a painter and the other whose face got painted, paintings of superheroes Narendra Modi, joker and batman were beautifully crafted.
In X-Factor, the talent show saw participants displaying their talent in singing, dancing, and boxing. 3 students were declared as winners out of 50 participants.
Xquizzit, General Quiz Competition, saw the participation of 100 teams out of 6 teams have been selected for the finals.
The quiz had flames slots dividing its sector in food, art, sports, literature. 4 slots divided into two groups.
The fancy dress competition, Superhero Cosplay, witnessed 10 students battling it out for the coveted top positions.
10 bands appeared for participation in In Battle of Bands, out of which 3 teams from the schools and 2 teams from college have been selected for the finals.
In Junkyard Wars, 8 teams have been shortlisted from 50 participating teams on the basis of a quiz.
In Captain Planet: the registration was done online and the and the students were suppose to spread the cleanliness drive by covering certain area of the venue like the parking lot or the food stalls and clean the stage and click the picture of the place and email or whatsapp it to the event manager and the winners would be awarded with t-shirt.
The preliminary round of 30th edition of ‘Wheels’ saw participation of thousands of students from city schools and intermediate colleges.
The Wheels marathon will be organised on December 25 from Sumant Moolgaokar stadium in Telco at 6 am.
Nearly 2,000 students, corporate officials and dignitaries will take part in the 4-km marathon which is titled Greenathon-Run for a clean society. The finale of Wheels will take place between Jan 13 and 15 at Telco Club premises.
