Chaibasa, July 1: West Singhbhum unit of the Congress party staged a dharna in front of deputy commissioner�s office on Friday to protest against the recruitment of ACTT Grade IV employees in the Kriburu and Meghahatuburu mines of SAIL.
The activists alleged that the SAIL management has been showing stubbornness and recruiting outsiders.
The party workers also submitted a memorandum to deputy commissioner addressed to the Governor demanding cancellation of the recruitment of outsiders.
They demanded that as per the government�s commitment, local people must be given the opportunity first.
Candidates from Odisha, Bihar, Bengal, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh should be prevented from getting employment in local units of SAIL, as thousands of qualified locals are still unemployed in West Singhbhum district.
A large number of party activists were present on the occasion.
