RMS High School student who brought pistol to class sent to remand home

Jamshedpur, July 1: The 13-year-old boy, who was caught with a country-made pistol at RMS High School in Sonari�on Thursday,�was remanded to judicial custody on Friday evening.

The boy, who is the son of a Tata Steel employee, was produced before a residential court of Vishal Gaurav in Sitaramdera and was taken to MGM Medical College and Hospital for a medical checkup before finally being lodged in the Ghaghidih-based remand home.

Officer in-charge of Sonari police station, Budhram Oraon, said that the accused was arrested under Section (25-1B) of the Arms Act for possessing fire-arms in an unauthorized way on a complaint lodged by Achla Srivastava, vice-principal of RMS High School.

Oraon said that ever since they took the boy under their custody, they tried their best to find out the source from which he had obtained the pistol. However, despite every effort, he did not open his mouth on this point.

The officer-in-charge, when queried, said it would be better on the part of the boy revealing the source of procuring the gun as by concealing the source he has protected someone.

A student of Class 8 of Sonari’s Khuntadih-based CBSE-affiliated English school, He boy was handed over to the police for bringing a rusted, country-made pistol, which he had shown to several of his classmates during the recess�on Thursday.
