West Bokaro Division celebrates Women�s Day in special way

West Bokaro: Commemorating International Women�s Day, Tata Steel�s West Bokaro Division saluted the spirit of its female work force through a series of activities that concluded with a mega event on Friday at Auditorium, West Bokaro.

Minakshi Kuchroo graced the concluding function as chief guest along with Ms Sobha Devi and other senior ladies of West Bokaro Division.

Aptly themed, �#BalanceForBetter�, the function attended by more than 200 persons including employees and their family members was organised by the Human Resources Management Department of West Bokaro Division under the �Diversity & Inclusion� initiative of Tata Steel.

The event included on-the-spot competitions for women employees, quiz competition, cultural programmes by women employees and enthralling skits by artists of Jharkhand Film & Theatre Academy, Ranchi that kept the audience spell bound. On this occasion, Tata Steel also recognised its women employees who had made a difference by their contribution to the company in their respective fields by felicitating them in the event.

Briefing the participants on the occasion, Meenakshi Kuchroo said: �Whatever a woman achieves, she has to look after two worlds � Personal & Professional and being a home maker is not an easy task and creating a perfect family is the world�s difficult task�. Raising concern over the prevalent gender bias in the society, she added �Nature has made us so strong that we will keep on marching ahead and no one can stop us.�

Among others present on the occasion were Sahabji Kuchroo, Chief Operations, Tata Steel (West Bokaro), Mr Anurag Dixit, Chief, Quarry SE, Tata Steel (West Bokaro), Mr Mayank Sekhar, Chief, Quarry AB, Tata Steel (West Bokaro), Mr Praveen Sinha, Chief, Human Resources Management, Tata Steel (West Bokaro), Mr Mahesh Prasad, President, Rastriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RCMS), and Mr Kailash Gope, Secretary, RCMS along with other senior officials of Tata Steel and Union.

Earlier on the day, Tata Steel Rural Development Society, the CSR wing of Tata Steel organized a �Matri Shisu Mela� and �SHG� Adhiveshan for the women residing in and around West Bokaro at Mukundabera Sports Ground, West Bokaro. More than 500 persons including girls and women from peripheral villages were benefitted by both the events.

Meenakshi Sharma, Deputy Director, National Commission of Schedule Tribes, (Ranchi) Government of India graced the occasion as chief guest along with Minakshi Kuchroo, Mahesh Prasad, President, Rastriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RCMS), Kailash Gope, Secretary, RCMS, Praveen Sinha, Chief, Human Resources Management, Tata Steel (West Bokaro), Kanchan Kumari, Up-Pramukh, Mandu block and Mr Keshav Ranjan, Unit Head, TSRDS.

Appreciating the efforts of Tata Steel for organizing the event on International Women�s Day, Meenakshi Sharma said, �Women empowerment is the need of the hour but most of the people consider that only educated women are empowered, which is not correct. Any women who knows what womanhood means, understands the role of a women and knows what she can do for the society at large, is an empowered woman.�
