‘We the Poet’:  Poetry competition at Karim City College Jamshedpur

 

Jamshedpur, Feb 22: The Society for Promotion of Art and Culture (SPARK) hosted the annual poetry competition ‘We the Poet’ at Karim City College. The competition, featuring self-written ghazals, najams, and poems, saw enthusiastic participation of 35 students across three categories: English, Urdu, and Hindi.

Dr. Basudhara Roy, Dr. Mohammad Tufail Ahmed, and Dr. Subhash Chandra Gupta served as judges for the English, Urdu, and Hindi categories respectively. Dr. S.M. Yahiya Ibrahim presented tokens of appreciation to all the judges.

Addressing the gathering, College Principal Dr. Mohammad Reyaz commended the participants for their emotive expressions through poetry, highlighting how language transcends mere communication when emotions are beautifully articulated. He praised the students for presenting exemplary poetry.

The winners were felicitated at the conclusion of the program. In the English segment, Shiuli Palit won the first prize while  and Anam Rizwan and Yashraj Sona tied at the second spot. Tania Parkar and Rituparna Mahato claimed the first and second prizes in the Hindi category, while Md. Saif Ali Ansari and Safdar Haroon emerged as the winners in the Urdu category.

The stage was moderated by Laiba Kamran, Muskaan Kumari, and Zainab Afrin. Kalamkar winners were honored during the event, with Sahdev Mahato delivering the vote of thanks.
