Jamshedpur, June 19: Residents of Vastu Vihar Colony in Mango’s Baliguma area, located along NH-33, were trapped in their homes due to severe waterlogging caused by three days of heavy rainfall. Access to the main road had been cut off, and the colony was effectively submerged with no response from local authorities.
Desperate for help, residents recorded a video highlighting their plight and shared it with social worker Vikas Singh, who forwarded the footage to senior district officials. Singh pointed out that the colony was home to the late Navy officer Manoranjan, a martyr of the INS Sindhu tragedy. Locals had even built a park in his memory, making the neglect all the more disheartening.
Vikas Singh criticized the Mango Municipal Corporation for its inaction and urged the Deputy Commissioner to intervene and ensure immediate relief. Residents also expressed anger at elected representatives who, they said, only appeared for publicity without delivering results.
