Jamshedpur: In a concerted effort to bolster voter participation in urban areas, the district administration has initiated extensive voter awareness programs. As part of this initiative, a voter awareness program was recently organized at Graduate College in accordance with the directives of District Election Officer Ananya Mittal. The event witnessed the participation of Deputy Development Commissioner cum Senior Officer Sveep Cell, Manish Kumar, and Project Director ITDA, Dipankar Chaudhary, who actively engaged with the young audience to emphasize the importance of exercising their electoral rights.
Addressing the gathering, Manish Kumar and Dipankar Chaudhary provided vital information regarding the last date for voter registration, which is set for the 26th of April. They urged individuals whose names are not yet registered in the voter list to fill Form 6 promptly, enabling them to contribute to the democratic process by casting their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Deputy Development Commissioner led a discussion on ethical voting and voter awareness, stressing the pivotal role each voter plays in shaping the democratic fabric of the nation. Emphasizing the significance of ethical voting, he highlighted that the foundation of a robust democracy rests upon the conscientious participation of every citizen. Encouraging voters to exercise their franchise responsibly, he urged them to vote without succumbing to any form of temptation or coercion.
Participants were enlightened about various apps introduced by the Election Commission of India to facilitate a more accessible and transparent electoral process. Special focus was given to the C-Vigil app, enabling citizens to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct, as well as the Voter Helpline App and Toll-Free Number 1950. As a symbol of their commitment to the electoral process, attendees collectively took the voter oath, pledging to vote in the upcoming elections.
