Jamshedpur: A large number of villagers from Bhilai Pahadi staged a protest at the entrance of Awadh Dental College on Tuesday, accusing the institution of medical negligence in the treatment of 65-year-old Buddheshwar Mahali.

According to the villagers, Mahali had visited the college recently due to severe tooth pain. After receiving treatment, he continued to experience discomfort and returned for further consultation. However, the hospital allegedly refused to treat him and advised him to travel to Mumbai for advanced treatment. Unable to afford the cost of travel and medical expenses, Mahali later sought treatment at MTHMH, where doctors diagnosed him with mouth cancer.

Angered by this alleged negligence, locals demanded that the dental college bear the full cost of his treatment. The management, however, stated that they could offer only Rs 5,000, which further enraged the protesters.

MGM police reached the site to control the situation, but the villagers remained firm in their demand for justice and accountability. “This is not just one case; many people here are struggling due to poor medical facilities. Authorities must take strict action,” said a protester. The agitation is expected to continue until a resolution is reached.
