Jamshedpur, September 4: Four persons were caught by villagers while illegally cutting trees in the Tambakhoon forest, located between Narsinghgarh and Kanas in the Dhalbhumgarh police station area of East Singhbhum district. The incident occurred on Tuesday night around 9 p.m.
The villagers, who noticed the illegal activity, managed to apprehend four members of the tree-cutting gang, while others escaped under the cover of darkness. The nabbed individuals were handed over to the police, who also seized a generator, cutting machine, and two motorcycles from the scene.
Dhalbhumgarh police station in-charge, Rajendra Kumar Munda, confirmed that the detained individuals claimed they were cutting trees on Raiati land and had been asked to provide no-objection certificates. The police are currently investigating the matter.
