Jamshedpur, April 19: In the Talsa-Kudada forest of Keruwadungari Panchayat area, anti-social elements have been continuously setting fires, leading to the destruction of the evergreen forests. Despite efforts by the Village Forest Protection Committee, the fires persist, posing a threat to the forests and wildlife.

To combat this menace, villagers have taken a proactive stance by forming teams to patrol the hill every morning and evening. They have also issued strict warnings to those caught setting fires, including forest smugglers and anti-social elements.

Majhi Baba Durga Charan Murmu of Talsa village emphasized that these elements are deliberately igniting fires to exploit the forest resources. Despite stringent regulations against forest cutting, they continue to operate clandestinely.

Villages adjacent to the hill, including Talsa, Turamdih, Kudada, Bhuridih, Bahardadi, and Bhitardadi, have been actively engaged in forest conservation efforts. Their dedication has helped maintain the lush greenery of the forest, despite the challenges posed by illegal activities.

Recently, a massive fire engulfed the forest, threatening numerous trees. Through four days of relentless efforts, villagers managed to contain the blaze, showcasing their commitment to protecting their natural environment.

Former Panchayat Committee members and local residents, including Jiten Hembram, Nayake Baba Habiram Murmu, and Sanatan Hembram, have played pivotal roles in extinguishing the fires and safeguarding the forest for future generations.
