Jamshedpur Workers’ College Hosts Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Workers’ College hosted the district-level ‘Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026’ on Sunday. Organized by ‘My Bharat’ in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), the event centered on the theme: “Fifty Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy.”

Inauguration and Leadership

Honorable Member of Parliament Shri Bidyut Baran Mahto inaugurated the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Joining him were several distinguished guests:

  • Dr. Naresh Kumar: Principal, ABM College
  • Dr. Kamal Kumar Mahto: NSS Nodal Officer
  • Dr. Mantu Patar: District Youth Officer

The Principal of Jamshedpur Workers’ College, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, welcomed the guests with bouquets and mementos. In his opening address, he emphasized that such democratic forums empower youth to become active participants in nation-building and strengthen their understanding of constitutional values.

Empowering the Next Generation

Addressing the gathering, MP Bidyut Baran Mahto urged the youth to enter politics and commit to social service. “The responsibility of transforming India into a developed nation rests on the shoulders of our youth,” he stated. He also highlighted various central government schemes aimed at public welfare and national growth.

Competitive Excellence

A total of 58 participants (30 female and 28 male) from over a dozen colleges—including Karim City, Co-operative, Graduate, and LBSM—debated the challenges and lessons of Indian democracy. A distinguished jury, including university senate members and industry experts, evaluated the speakers.

State-Level Qualifiers: The jury selected the following five students to represent the district at the State-Level Youth Parliament:

  1. Megha Rawat (Karim City College)
  2. Sanchit Ghosh (KMPM College)
  3. Sangam Gupta (Karim City College)
  4. Palak Tiwari (Patamda College)
  5. Manav Ghosh (Jamshedpur Workers’ College)

Execution and Support

Program Coordinator Dr. Alok Kumar Choubey conducted the stage proceedings, while Dr. Surbhi Sinha delivered the vote of thanks. The success of the event relied on the dedicated efforts of the college faculty and NSS volunteers, including Sujal Verma, Sagar Kumar, and Kunal Mahto. The program concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to all students.
