Ranchi, March 8: In a special gesture to celebrate International Women’s Day, a women loco pilot along with women railway police personnel flagged off the Ranchi–Lohardaga Passenger Express from Ranchi Railway Station on Sunday.
The unique initiative highlighted the growing participation of women in the Indian Railways and security services.
Women personnel took charge of key responsibilities during the flag-off ceremony, symbolising empowerment and gender equality in traditionally male-dominated roles.
Railway officials and passengers applauded the effort, calling it an inspiring step toward encouraging more women to join technical and operational positions in the railways. The event created a festive atmosphere at the station while celebrating women’s achievements and dedication.
